Tell us how you’ve been inspired by You Are Awesome and you could win a visit from author Matthew Syed!
From understanding the power of practice to learning from your mistakes, You Are Awesome shows kids that, with the right mindset, they can achieve (almost) anything.
We want to hear from children who have put Matthew’s growth mindset techniques into action and started their journey to Awesome! Whether that’s trying something new, stepping out of their comfort zone or pushing themselves to be the best they can be at a subject or hobby, tell us how You Are Awesome inspired them to do something different for a chance to meet Matthew.
Remember, it’s ok if they didn’t succeed! The path to Awesome is about learning from your mistakes and trying again.
Here’s Matthew himself to tell you a bit more:
How do I enter?
Children can enter as a whole class activity, individually or in smaller groups or clubs. Simply ask children entering to fill out the form telling us how their thinking has changed since reading You Are Awesome – we want to hear about either successes (e.g. trying something new) OR failures (and what they’ve learned from them).
Each submission must be using the entry form, with the form counter-signed by a teacher, parent or guardian and sent to firstname.lastname@example.org or posted to Felicity Highet, Hachette Children’s Group, Carmelite House, 50 Victoria Embankment, London EC4Y 0DZ. Please include a covering letter with contact details for the school, club or parent when sending your entry forms.
Please let us know on the form whether you are entering as a class, group or individual, and your school name where relevant. The deadline for entries is 15th February 2019. The competition is best suited to children aged 8 to 13.
What do we win?
The winning submission will receive a visit from Matthew Syed to their school or group*, as well as a personalised signed certificate from Matthew, ‘I am Awesome’ sticker and copy of The You Are Awesome Journal for every child within that entry. Five runners-up will each receive a copy or class set of The You Are Awesome Journal and an ‘I am Awesome’ sticker.
