Does your independent reading material need an update? Reading Champion is a new series providing over 200 fantastic, original stories to help children practise and reinforce their developing reading skills.
Developed in consultation with literacy experts at UCL Institute of Education (IOE), it is the first independent reading programme linked to the book band that a child is reading in the classroom, and works alongside any guided reading programme.
How does Reading Champion support independent reading?
- The right level of challenge for reading independently. Consultants from UCL IOE have worked with authors to ensure each book provides the right level of challenge for reading independently, supporting and embedding skills learned through guided reading at school.
- Clear labelling. Unique colour labelling on the spine and back covers helps readers easily find books at the right level, building confidence and encouraging reading for pleasure.
- Fantastic books that children will want to pick up and read themselves! Engaging and entertaining stories are accompanied by vibrant artwork that appeals to young readers. And there’s plenty of choice too, with over 200 titles publishing over the next 2 years.
- Easy to use at home or at school. Each book contains a fun reading activity to increase engagement, as well as clear guidance notes for parents and carers to help them support independent reading at home.
